Simple / Legals‑Only Wedding Ceremony
The Simple / Legals‑Only Wedding Ceremony is a quick, elegant, registry‑style ceremony that covers all the legal requirements without the fuss.
It’s perfect for couples who want something simple, relaxed and stress‑free.
- Short, meaningful ceremony (around 10–15 minutes)

Frequently Asked Questions About Sydney Wedding Ceremonies
How far in advance should we book a celebrant?
Most couples book their Sydney marriage celebrant 6–12 months in advance, especially for popular dates.
Legally, you must lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before your wedding date.
For a step‑by‑step overview, you can also read my guide:
7 legal steps to getting married in Australia.
What are the legal requirements to get married in Australia?
You must:
- Be over 18 years of age
- Not be currently married
- Not be marrying a close relative
- Provide appropriate ID (birth certificate and driver licence, or passport)
- Lodge your NOIM with an authorised celebrant at least one month before the ceremony
How long does a wedding ceremony last?
- Fully personalised ceremonies: usually around 20–30 minutes
- Legals‑only / registry‑style ceremonies: around 10–15 minutes
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely. I specialise in story‑driven ceremonies and provide guidance, examples and resources to help you craft personal, meaningful vows.
If you prefer not to memorise them, I provide printed vow cards for the ceremony so you can simply be present in the moment.
What happens if it rains during an outdoor wedding in Sydney?
I always recommend having a Plan B venue option.
As your celebrant, I’ll work with your venue coordinator to ensure the ceremony remains seamless—whether it’s held under a garden rotunda, a marquee, or moved indoors.
Many of my couples choose beautiful outdoor locations such as
Centennial Parklands,
Royal Botanic Garden or
Balmoral Beach, all of which have great wet‑weather options.
Renewal of Vows Ceremonies
A Renewal of Vows Ceremony is a beautiful way to celebrate a milestone anniversary, honour your journey together or simply reaffirm your love.
It can be as relaxed or as formal as you like.
You may choose:
- An intimate private moment just for the two of you
- A heartfelt celebration with family and friends
A vow renewal looks and feels like a wedding ceremony—complete with vows, rings, readings and meaningful rituals—but without the legal paperwork.
This means less pressure and more joy as you celebrate your life together.
If you’d like ideas for readings, rituals or locations, you’re welcome to
get in touch and start planning your vow renewal.
Commitment Ceremonies
A Commitment Ceremony is a deeply meaningful way to honour your relationship without the legalities of marriage.
Couples choose this option for many reasons—personal beliefs, cultural considerations, or simply wanting to celebrate love on their own terms.
A commitment ceremony can include:
- Personalised vows
- Symbolic rituals (such as handfasting, candle lighting or sand ceremonies)
- Readings and music that reflect your story
- Involvement of family and friends
It mirrors the beauty and emotion of a wedding ceremony, focusing entirely on your love story and the promises you choose to make to each other.

Naming Ceremonies
A Naming Ceremony is a joyful way to welcome your new baby or child into the world and introduce them to family, friends and community.
It’s a warm, inclusive alternative to a traditional christening.
A Naming Day can be held anywhere—your home, a park, a garden or a favourite family location.
Many families choose to include:
- Godparents or guardians
- Readings, poems or blessings
- Symbolic rituals such as candle lighting, tree planting or keepsake boxes
It offers the warmth and meaning of a christening, without the religious elements, creating a personalised celebration that reflects your family’s values.
