Baby Naming Ceremonies in Sydney

Baby Naming Ceremonies in Sydney

A warm, personal way to welcome your little one into the world with Baby Naming Ceremonies in Sydney.

What Is a Baby Naming Ceremony?

A Baby Naming Ceremony is a joyful and meaningful way to welcome your child into your family and community. It’s a modern, non‑religious alternative to a christening, and it allows you to create a celebration that feels personal, inclusive, and completely your own.

Unlike traditional ceremonies, a naming day can be held anywhere—at home, in a local park, by the beach, or at your favourite Sydney venue. It focuses on love, connection, and the hopes you hold for your child. Many parents also choose to appoint godparents or guardians, giving special people an ongoing role in their child’s life.

As a Sydney celebrant, I create naming ceremonies that feel warm, relaxed, and heartfelt. Every ceremony is shaped around your family’s story, values, and vision. Whether you want something simple or a more structured celebration, I’ll guide you through the process and help you craft a moment you’ll always remember.

A natural, warm example to help you imagine your child’s special day

Welcome

Welcome, everyone. Today we gather to celebrate the newest member of our family—our gorgeous little boy, Charlie. This moment is a milestone not only for Charlie, but also for his parents, Kerry and Chris, his big sister Poppy, and all of you who form his wider circle of love and support.

Introducing Charlie

It has been just over two years since Charlie arrived. Charlie Christopher James, born on 22 April 2016, entered the world with innocence, curiosity, and a whole lot of love.

The arrival of a child touches us deeply. A tiny human depends on us for guidance, nurturing, and wisdom. Today we celebrate how much Charlie has grown and how beautifully he has been shaped by the love around him.

A Baby Naming Ceremony officially shares a child’s name with family and friends. It also welcomes them into the community that will help guide them as they grow. We all shared in the joy of Charlie’s arrival, and today we acknowledge our shared role in supporting him as he becomes the person he is meant to be.

Charlie, your name was chosen with love and intention. We name you Charlie Christopher James, and we wish you a life filled with happiness, health, and peace. May you bring joy to your parents, your family, and your friends.

Big Sister’s Words

Poppy now shares a poem and a few heartfelt reasons why she loves her little brother.

There are little eyes upon you and they’re watching night and day… You are setting an example every day in all you do, For the little boy who’s waiting to grow up to be like you.

Promises of the Godparents

Kerry and Chris have chosen four special people to be Charlie’s godparents: Aunty Charlotte, Uncle Tom, Aunty Silvi, and Uncle Dave.

Godparents are trusted guides—people who will take an interest in Charlie’s wellbeing, character, and growth.

They are asked:

  • Will you stay close to Charlie to the best of your ability? We will
  • Will you help guide him through life healthfully and happily? We will
  • Will you be a positive influence, encouraging kindness and worthy principles? We will
  • Will you support his dual heritage—including his loyal support of the Broncos, despite living in NSW, and the ongoing yoghurt/vitamin pronunciation debate? We will

Promises from Family & Friends

Kerry and Chris know that raising a child takes a village. They feel grateful to have each of you in Charlie’s life.

To everyone gathered here:

  • Will you help offer Charlie a broad and balanced view of life? We will
  • Will you encourage virtues such as honesty, fairness, integrity, and compassion? We will
  • Will you be a shoulder to lean on—especially when the teenage years arrive? (As a father of three boys, I can assure you… they will.) We will

Conclusion

As we close this Baby Naming Ceremony, we say to you, Charlie:

May life’s richest joys and blessings be yours. May you grow in strength, kindness, and curiosity. And may you always bring light to those whose paths you cross.

On behalf of Kerry and Chris, thank you for your presence, your support, and the love you will continue to share with Charlie in the years ahead.
